The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Founded in 2008, CSK is one of the eight teams that took part in the inaugural IPL. In 2013, the Chennai Super Kings encountered a significant setback when they became embroiled in a spot-fixing and betting scandal. The team principal, Gurunath Meiyappan, was arrested by Mumbai Police for alleged betting and conspiracy. The RM Lodha Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court of India, suspended the team for two years in July 2015 as a result of this. The committee also suspended the team’s owners, India Cements and Jaipur IPL. During this period, the team experienced a low point as they faced a bar from participating in the IPL for two seasons, 2016 and 2017. The team’s reputation was tarnished, and fans and the cricketing community directed significant backlash toward them.
